Gun Control

Gun Laws Ma?ta Dear Legislator, I am writing on behalf of my thoughts and myself about gun control laws. My position on this topic is neutral leaning towards the No Gun law. The idea of a federal law to ban these guns is a good idea, but it could be better. I believe strongly that guns should be banned from our country in some kind of way, but there are exceptions like for law enforcement and hunters. This law could lower the murder and death rates drastically. The US would be a whole differen

Battle Royal Anonymous After I read the story Battle Royal by Ralf Ellison, I could not restrain my thoughts about issues of morality and what it has to do with reality, from clashing in to one another in my mind. As these two completely different ideas were pushing me to the brink of madness, my mind began to click. The swirling messy cocktail of two abstract ideas started taking shape as I began remembering what I had learned earlier in school, and from my summer readings. At this point I ca
Changes to the Bill of Rights Anonymous How many rights do you have? You should check, because it might not be as many today as it was a few years ago, or even a few months ago. Some people I talk to are not concerned that police will execute a search warrant without knocking or that they set up roadblocks and stop and interrogate innocent citizens. They do not regard these as great infringements on their rights. But when you put current events together, there is information that may be surprisi
Feminism in the Crime Film Genre A.J. Throughout motion picture history, women have experienced more transition in their roles, as a result of changing societal norms, than any other class. At first, both society and the movie industry preached that women should be dependent on men and remain in the home, in order to guarantee stability in the community and the family. As time passed and attitudes changed, women were beginning to be depicted as strong willed, independent minded characters, who w
Pez [email protected] Pez was invented in 1927 in Vienna, Austria by an already accomplished candyman named Edward Haas III. The word Pez comes from the German word for peppermint, which is phefferminz. You take the first, middle, and last letters, put them together and you get Pez. When Edward Haas first invented Pez it was originally a breath mint for adult smokers, thus the first dispenser which came along in 1947, naturally, looked like a cigarette lighter. In 1952 Edward Haas brought his
Impact of the Automobile from 1900-1945 Matt The impact of the automobile between 1900 through 1945 was immense. It paved the way for a future dependency on the automobile. To paint a better picture, imagine life without an automobile. Everyday life would be dull, cumbersome, and tedious. An individual?s mobility would be very limited. Basically, the life without an automobile could not be fathomed. The importance of the automobile is often taken for granite. Society may not know what appreciate
Submarines Anonymous Wouldn?t it be fun to ride a torpedo, or drive a nuclear reactor around underwater? In this research paper I am going to illustrate the ingenius submarine. The submarine is one of the most important strategic and tactical weapons systems of the 20th Century, and this importance will increase in the 21st Century. The tiny, leaking, creaking, and unsafe submarine boats of the 1890?s, displacing under two hundred tons and carrying a handful of men and a few torpedoes have grown
The Consequences of Guns Martin Ostlind Handguns and other firearms have a long tradition in American civilization. The right to bear arms is an American right featured in the second Amendment of the Constitution. In the 18th century, when the constitution was written, times were different; there was a need for armed citizens to insure the safety of the society as a whole. Contemporarily the police department preserves the safety of society and the need for armed citizens is out of date. The fou
Liberal/Conservative Traits in Editorial Columnist Donald Kaul Anonymous Donald Kaul, a Tribune Media Syndicate?s newspaper veteran of twenty five years, can be said to be famous for his often sarcastic but astute observations on everything from campaign reform to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Occasionally a letter to the editor appears in the newspaper protesting his remarks, usually from a self-proclaimed, right-wing conservative calling him a bleeding heart liberal. What exactly do these

Gun Control Laws - Should they be altered? Anonymous While many people believe there should be more gun control and the possibility of banning guns all together, I believe the gun control laws should not be changed. Banning guns is not an answer the gun problem in America, there are a few other things that could be don

The Vietnam War Unknown The Vietnam War is truly one of the most unique wars ever fought by the Unites States of by any country. It was never officially declared a war (Knowll, 3). French and Russian revolutions Unknown Both the French and Russian revolutions occurred because of two main reasons. Both of these revolutions were the direct results of bad leadership and a bad economy. These two reasons along with other factors caused both of these revolutions. Gun Control dan cimino I think your gun control views are the views of some-one that does not hunt, probably has never hunted, and maybe has never target practiced with a gun. Gun, Drugs, Murder Since the days of the pioneers, firearms have been part of the American tradition as protection and a means of hunting or sport. As we near the end of the 20th century the use of guns has changed significantly. Because of fast and steady increase in crime and the fight for the right to own a hand gun, the introduction of legislation for gun control, to try to reduce the crime in the United States, has been a hotly debated issue in recent years. Although many people feel that g
Gun Control The National Rifle Association (NRA) is a very powerful organization with huge financial backing; it wants laws already in placed to be used more forcefully to control the use of guns in committing crimes. However, people are still dying; something more must be done to take guns out of the hands of those who plan and execute criminal behavior. The NRA makes valid points when arguing the topic of gun control; however, I do not agree with the majority of their argument. The organizatio

CANADA - OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA The Canadian identity has always been difficult to define. We, as Canadians, have continued to define ourselves by reference to what we are not - American - rather than in terms of our own national history and tradition. This is ironic since the United States is continuing to be allowed by Canadians to take over our economy and literally buy our country. Culturally Canada has its own distinct government and institutions which differ and are better from t
