Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Legal In the U.S.
In a James Brown voice, “Living in America, hand to hand, across the nation.” (Living in America) How effective is this quote? It also seems to be taken out of context, and as such seems seriously misplaced and ineffective That’s what’s happening in America now, women taking hand to hand, and men taking hand to hand in marriage. I don’t think this is what the lyrics of James Brown’s song meant. What happened to man and woman taking hand to hand? The latest social movement that is sweeping America is same sex marriage. Some people are excited that same sex marriage has become legal in some states and these people are campaigning to make it legal in all states. On the other hand, there are people that want same-sex marriage or civil unions banned throughout the United States. Same sex marriage should be legal in all 50 states due to the benefits that come with marriage and the same equal rights that heterosexual marriages havecondense and clarify. A civil union does no supply gays with all rights and protections as if they were legally married. Civil unions are not recognized by all states and federal laws and benefits do not apply. In civil unions there is no filing joint federal taxes and no joint custody over children if any involved. Civil unions can file joint state taxes in a state that recognize it. Marriage just out weighs civil unions by Federal rights and benefits alone. What is the claim? The reader should not have to search it out
Same sex marriage should be legal and recognized by all states. Repeating the same main point in a body paragraph is merely redundant; this is to time to get specific and present evidence The gay minority has been hiding in the closet long enough; the secret is out. Document using MLA the revised estimates from the 2010 Census, there were 131,729 same-sex married couple households and 514,735 same-sex unmarried couple households in the United States. Most Americans know someone that is gay. Childhood to adulthood we work with or go to school with someone that’s gay and or have a relative that is gay. The same equal rights should apply for same-sex couples. Everyone, regardless of sexual orientation should have the right to express their feelings, and their love a general statement that has no specific emphasis. Veer away from interjecting general statements in your body (check throughout). How can someone be denied the opportunity to marry whom they choose, especially in the land of the free? This is a form of discrimination when marrying the one you love is not an option for same-sex couples. Same-sex couples would be recognized as a family if marriage was legal and recognized by all states. Reread out loud and listen for clarity and directness
In 2004 the Congressional Budget Office prepared a report for Congress analyzing potential cost of recognizing same-sex marriage. The report ? then this a direct quote?stated that there were 1,138 statutory provisions where marriage plays a factor in qualifying for benefits. (Gale; Gay Parents 2010) Some benefits would include social security, military pensions, and state benefits that are based on marriage. This is the most important reason why same-sex marriage should be legal in all states. Same- sex couples need the same benefits equal to all Americans. The sharing of medical/dental benefits, and life insurance policies, as a family is not applicable until same-sex marriage is legal and recognized throughout the U.S. For an example, a man has healthcare coverage on his job; he can add his wife and kids to this coverage. On the other hand same-sex marriages cannot do this unless the state is recognizing the marriage; the kids if any can be added but not the spouse.
